WHY STORE FOOD??
Why store food anyway? Keeping food on hand protects you just as insurance does for your car or home. Of all the reasons we've heard, one that hits home is natural disaster preparedness. More and more areas are getting hit hard by natural disasters, whether it be floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. Having lived on the East Coast (Florida) for 35yrs. it just kinda makes sense to BE PREPARED! If you're in a hurricane prone area, remember that despite recent overactive seasons, this one is predicted to be even more so with 14 storms, (10 Named Hurricanes/4 Intense Storms).
The American Red Cross suggests "...stocking disaster supplies to last several days to a week for yourself and those who live with you. This includes having nonperishable foods, stored water..." in their Y2K checklist on being prepared.
