The Katadyn Combi Water Filter with it's dual filter system combines Katadyn's proven ceramic filter technology with an activated carbon filter, thus creating a water filtering system that eliminates not only bacteria and micro-organisms, but also malodorous and noxious chemicals including chlorine and iodine.
1st Operating Mode. In the first operating mode the Katadyn ceramic element is used to treat turbid and contaminated water from lakes, rivers and streams removing all bacteria and protozoa producing safe, potable drinking water.
The fine pore micro-filtration offered by the Katadyn ceramic filter element has proven to be the most reliable step in water safety technology. Even the smallest known bacteria cannot penetrate the Katadyn ceramic filter, because the average pore size of the ceramic is a mere 0.2 micron.
The organisms causing the following diseases can thus be removed from the water: dysentery, typhoid fever, cholera, colibacillosis, amoebic and bacterial dysentery, bilharciosis, giardia, etc.
2nd Operating Mode. In the second operating mode, water is filtered through activated carbon granulate. Inserting the activated carbon cartridge will reduce chemicals including chlorine and iodine, as well as potentially hazardous elements such as herbicides, and pesticides. The carbon granulate also eliminates unpleasant odors and returns the water to its natural taste.
